DENS Residents Well Prepared to Maintain New Homes

Osborne teamed up with DENS (Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter) to offer five residents some practical support as they prepared to move into new homes with a ‘pre-tenancy course’ last month.
The workshop, led by Osborne Property Services operatives at their Hemel Hempstead training centre, aimed to provide helpful assistance on a range of domestic maintenance know-how from unblocking sinks to fitting light bulbs.

This week marked World Homeless Day and DENS, a local charity established in 2003, aims to tackle homelessness and poverty in Dacorum by providing emergency relief, sourcing accommodation and giving appropriate support to those in crisis, helping them to build a better future.

Osborne Draining Operative Terry introduced the day by explaining his own story of how DENS had helped him in the past, before Service Delivery Manager Craig Gough guided the group though a range of demonstrations.

A few days earlier Contract Coordinator Carley Manning and Project Manager James Quaile took their support for the charity to an altogether higher level with a sponsored Sky Dive, whilst colleagues in the local Osborne office have begun a ‘Smart’ Clothes Bank, providing items suitable for interviews or other formal occasions.

Osborne Community Investment Manager Hannah Bailey said: “DENS are a fantastic local charity making a real difference to people in crisis and we were delighted to provide some practical support through this workshop, which we hope can become a regular event.”

“DENS have been delighted to have the support of Osborne over the past few years, it is a privilege to work with such a prominent business. Carley and James were brave enough to participate in our charity skydive last month and raised a great amount of sponsorship for us. We really appreciate Osborne’s  promotion and awareness of what we do in the community.”
