Kingsley Green Meets Deputy Prime Minister’s Approval

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg recently visited the new £42 million mental health facility, Kingfisher Court, at the Kingsley Green site in Radlett, Hertfordshire, where he had the opportunity to look around the new unit which Osborne is currently finishing the construction of.

Mr Clegg’s visit saw him take a tour of the North Block building, which Osborne officially handed over in June. Kingfisher Court is set to be fully completed and handed back to the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust later next month.

During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister announced his pledge to raise annual mental health research spending in England by £50million by 2020.

Dr Oliver Shanley, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust, said: “We were very proud to show Mr Clegg around Kingfisher Court, where he was able to see for himself the good work our staff are doing to improve the lives of our service users. His pledge to increase research spending into mental health would definitely be a step in the right direction in terms of making mental health a priority in this country, which will only improve the lives of those dealing with mental health problems every day.”
