Osborne Receive Customer Praise for Herne Bay Station Platform Safety Measures

The Osborne Minor Works Team has recently installed platform gating at Herne Bay Station, in Kent, as an additional safety measure to prevent unauthorised entry to the railway.
Back in July, a young girl was tragically found on the tracks and following
discussions with the family, Network Rail committed to installing end of platform safety measures.

Upon successful installation and the completion of additional repairs, both Network Rail and the Crime Officer were complimentary on the efforts of the Osborne Minor Works team saying – “thank you for this great job -this will help a family who are still hurting form a tragic loss.”

This comes after the team was approached, recently by Network Rail to look at the possibility of installing 119m of suicide protection fence along with access gates which can only be operated from the trackside.
Along with their supply chain partners, the team were invited to come up with the design and feasibility of installation, based on similar work they had previously carried out at Purley and Purley Oaks. Work started on 4th September 2017 and the fence was completed 25th September 2017, ensuring a swift install.

Michael Barry, Station Manager at South Eastern Trains said:
“The introduction of a new safety barrier on Platform 1 at Hither Green was a refreshingly client-focused project. As the end-user, my participation was encouraged by the Osborne team and this cascaded through to the sub-contractor also. The barrier has been completed as specified, and the finished quality at this time renders the rest of the station distinctly tired-looking.”
