Andover Road, Winchester

Designed for the direct let market this new student hall takes full advantage of its location in central Winchester.

Approximate GDV: £30 million

Utilising our wide knowledge and experience of the Winchester student accommodation sector, our second development has commenced with joint venture partner Student Residence Investment Limited.  We have obtained a prime central location in Andover Road, adjacent to Winchester Railway station, which will provide a further 257 student bedrooms for the university students of the City.   Designed for the direct let market the development is less than a mile from the University of Winchester’s Sparkford Road campus.

Situated on the site of a former warehouse this new hall is an excellent example of brownfield development and the regeneration of an underused city centre site.  By maximising the developable land through careful design we have created an efficient building in a highly sustainable location.

Our specialist rail and infrastructure businesses are playing a significant role in the success of this venture. The scheme adds to our growing portfolio of 3,400 student accommodation units completed or in the course of development.

Winchester students will be taking possession of their rooms for the start of the 2018 academic year.

Simon Perchard, (Director, SRIL) said: “We are very pleased to announce the completion of the purchase of this second site with our JV partner, Osborne.  It very much fits our strategy of focusing on the UK student accommodation market.”

David Sarson, Managing Director of Development and Investment for Osborne, said:  “We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with SRIL on this exciting opportunity in Winchester.  We have a strong track record in the student experience market having developed successful accommodation schemes previously for several universities including Winchester and Southampton.”
